About Knockout Horror: Horror with Heart & Honesty
Knockout Horror is designed for busy, overstimulated minds that just want the point without the preamble.
Welcome to the Ring: Horror Without the Headaches
Welcome to Knockout Horror. Whether you found us via a search engine or stumbled in from somewhere else, I’m really pleased to see you. You are more than welcome to stick around, grab a drink, and spend some time here.
Who Are We? We’re Knockout Horror!
I’m Richie, the founder and editor of Knockout Horror. I’m also the only person writing here. I’m a lifelong horror fan with a compulsive habit: horror is literally all I watch… No comedies, no action movies, nothing.
I also live with Bipolar Disorder, and my partner lives with ADHD.
We know firsthand how exhausting it can be to navigate websites filled with endless fluff, giant walls of text, and buried information. That’s why I decided to rebuild Knockout Horror from the ground up.
Somewhere along the line, I realised that I had diverged from the original plan I had for this website. I always wanted to create a site to offer answers to people who were unable to follow a film or were simply too busy to keep focused.
Instead of doing just that, I was writing walls of text and burying the answers. Rather than swinging for a first round knockout, I was aiming for a 5 round split decision.
I realised that had to change! I had to make the original vision I had for Knockout Horror come to life.
The Knockout Horror USP: Neuro-Inclusive Design
I’ve transformed this site into a space specifically tailored for neurodivergent minds and anyone who just wants the point without the preamble.
I mean, let’s be honest… People are working more, time is at a premium, and our minds are fuller than ever. We believe you shouldn’t have to hunt for the information you need; even if it’s just for an opinion on a horror movie or an explanation for an ending.
Our new “No-Fluff” format includes:
- Quick Verdict Boxes: Get the “Skinny” on a review immediately at the top of the page. Find your answer in seconds.
- The Good, The Bad & The Ugly: Every review broken down into scannable, digestible highlights.
- TL;DR Ending Summaries: Our “Ending Explained” articles get straight to the point before diving into the details.
- Easy-Access Lists: No more scrolling through 5,000 words to find a movie recommendation; we put a summary table right at the top.
- Cognitive-Friendly Layouts: Short paragraphs, clear sidebars, and zero “thesaurus-flexing”.
- Lightweight Pages: Our review pages boast a 95+ mobile score and a 99 desktop score on PageSpeed Insights. This site is designed to be lightweight and fast loading with no fluff.
What Else Is Our Deal?
I’m all about celebrating the entire horror genre with absolute integrity:
- Reviews That Pull No Punches: We tell you what we really think. No sugar-coating, no corporate bias.
- 31 Days of Halloween: Our flagship annual event where we review a horror movie every day of October.
- Indie Spotlights: We love finding the low-budget gems that the big sites ignore.
- Ending Explained: Ending Explained articles that go beyond the norm. We incorporate lightweight sidebars to introduce compelling facts about the movies to help you contextualise the film you just watched.
Knockout Horror is Completely Independent
I have no affiliation with streaming services or production studios. We do not accept sponsored reviews. This site is funded entirely by the ads you see, which goes directly back into hosting costs and cinema tickets to keep the content coming.
Knockout Horror is Here For You!
I’m not just here to talk at you; I want to hear from you too! If you have a suggestion for how we can make the site even more accessible, or just want to chat movies, get in touch via our contact page!
